Abstract

The article addresses matters concerned with assessing power supply system non-sinusoidal operation conditions taking into account distributed distortion sources. For selecting the parameters of harmonic suppression and reactive power compensating (HS&RPC) devices and their connection points for keeping the voltage and current higher harmonic components within their permissible limits, it is necessary to know the share contributions of distortion sources. The article suggests a method for assessing the share contributions of distortion sources, which is based on measuring the current and voltage vectors at harmonic frequencies. The proposed method makes it possible to assess residual harmonic current and voltage components while excluding the influence of consumers with nonlinear loads. It is proposed to separate the share contributions into algebraic and geometric ones. The data on algebraic contributions are necessary for selecting the HS&RPC device connection point, and the data on geometric contribution are necessary for selecting the HS&RPC device parameters and assessing residual harmonic current and voltage components. The study results have been verified on the computer model of an oil and gas condensate field power supply system, in which each of the gas field substations with nonlinear loads is an external with respect to other ones.
