Design and Parameters Selection of the Switched Reluctance Generator

Abstract

Switched reluctance generators have been known for about 20 years. During this time, they have established themselves as a promising type of generators with electronic control and a simple design of the mechanical part. Recently, new methods of switching generators to increase their power have been developed. At the same time, the methods of designing switched reluctance generators are not yet sufficiently developed. The comparison of the choice of electromagnetic loads of the traditional inductor generator and the switched reluctance generator is carried out. It is shown that the switched reluctance generator can operate at elevated electromagnetic loads, compared with the electromagnetic loads of a traditional inductor generator. Recommendations on the choice of electromagnetic loads of the generator are given.
